The Mitten

This week we used The Mitten to focus on Beginning, Middle and End of a story.

The scholars drew three different pictures in an app called Hello Crayon of what happened in the story in t he Beginning the Middle and the End.  Then they moved those 3 pictures to an app Shadow Puppet and they were able to record a story retell.  We call this app smashing.  They did a great job. 

Writing Goals

Today the scholars learned about setting Writing Goals.  They choose a skill to work on in their writing that fit their particular need.  As they write daily they can  go over and change their writing goal and they feel they need.

The Snowglobe Family

This is such a good book.

We learned about Expressions on Characters face telling the story.

Then we put a picture of ourself in the snowglobe and painted a picture using qtips.

Martin Luther King Jr.

We learned about Martin Luther King today.

We look different on the outside but we are the same on the inside.

Such a good lesson.

Reading and Writing Workshop

These guys love Reading and Writing Workshop.

My favorite thing is when I say it is time to stop and they all moan. They never want to stop. 

New Years Resolutions

We started the new year with New Year's Resolutions.

We have such sweet scholars who want to help and do for others.

Library Time

We love storytime in the library with Mrs. Gwin.
