ABC Countdown

ABC Countdown to the end of school started Wednesday, April 30.

26 more days of school.

 

A = Airplanes

We had a blast making and flying paper airplanes.

 

B= Books

Everyone brought their favorite book to school.

We read and read and read.

So fun.

Investigating Seeds

We used lima beans to learn about seeds.

They enjoyed taking the seed apart and finding

the seed coat, embryo, and food storage.  

 We even role played and dressed Preston up like a seed.

Earth Day

Today is Earth Day.

We learned about ways we can help the environment.

 

We painted the world.

 

We made an Earth Day Promise.

Just for fun we made dirt on Earth Day.

Planting the Garden

We planted our radish seeds this week.

 

Everyone got a turn to plant.

 Then everyone got a turn to water.

 By the end of the week we had sprouts.

 

Zoo Field Trip

Today we went on the class Field Trip to the Fort Worth Zoo.

They had so much fun.

When we got back to school the students told us all about their day.  It was so much fun hearing their stories.

Gardening

 

Bear Creek has a garden and Kindergarten

has a box to plant our seeds.

This week we worked on preparing the box for planting.

 

 

Mrs. Garcia talked to the students about planting

and let the students tell us what we needed

to do first to get ready to plant our seeds.

The students decided we needed to pull weeds

and get rid of old plants, so we got to work.

 

 

They had fun finding ladybugs.

The next day the students decided that we needed
to turn the soil and finish cleaning out the bed.

 

So we turned the soil and had fun playing in the dirt.

 

TaDa!  We are ready for planting.

Creating and Learning

We are learning about the -ig family words.

The students use the ipads to create a project using -ig words.

 

Tale of Peter Rabbit

We read The Tale of Peter Rabbit.

The students thought of words to describe Peter.

happy, naughty, mischievous, hungry, sick

 

They wrote describing words on the carrot and made a Peter Rabbit.  I forgot to take pictures as they were learning.

Zoo Animal Project

This week we finished up our

PBL (Project Based Learning) project.

Each group researched a zoo animal and then created

a project to present the information they learned.

They did an AMAZING job.

We had to go out into the hall to do our recordings.

 

At the end of each day the students would evaluate how they think they did working in their groups.
