Texas and Armadillos = Fun Week

We had a very busy week.
These pictures do not hardly capture all that we did this week.
We continued learning about Texas.
We discovered how big Texas is compared to the other states by placing pennies in some of the states and compared the size to how many pennies it took to fill Texas.
Bottom Line:  TEXAS is really big.
We also learned about the Landforms in Texas.
Did you know that Texas has mountains, prairies, forest and desert?

In math we worked on ways to make 6, 7, 8 and 9.
They loved that they got to write on their desk

We researched Armadillos in preparation of our upcoming Texas PBL (Project Based Learning).
We researched Armadillo facts. Then we created projects to present these facts.  We made a poster, created a pic-collage, created a Skitch and made a movie using 30 hands.

First we created a poster with our fact.

Here they are creating a pic-collage.

Here they are making a presentation about their research.
I am so lucky to get to watch this.  It is adorable.

Here they are making a Skitch about what their animal looks like.

This is a Skitch one of the groups created.
They imported in a picture of an armadillo then used the tools to label its body parts.

We are very excited to start our PBL on Zoo animals next week.  This will be a two week long project ending with a trip to the zoo.

Here these students are reading to a friend.  I gotta say with all the new technology and collaboration we are teaching the students their all time favorite is still just going and reading a book.

We read fiction and non-fiction books about Armadillos.
